It’s after curfew and the police approach you. You are a 15 year old girl. You claim you haven’t done anything.
Shouldn’t the police, say, drop you off at your house? Call your parents? Seems those kind of solutions are things of the past as this clip of a police officer attempting to cuff a 15 year-old girl (for breaking curfew) is met with whining and keeping her arm away from the officer. Then after the officer becomes rough, and occasionally looks up at the dash-mounted camera, she decides to bite the officer’s hand. He simply punches her in the face, then gets out his pepper spray, reaches around and sprays the product into her eyes only a few inches away. Watch.
Does this meet your community standards?
That 15 year old needs to toughen up. What a wiony bitch. the officer did nothing wrong.
The officer was acting completely within boundries. You can easily tell by examining the Use of Force Continuum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_force_continuum). He gave her a verbal command, she resisted. He tried to handcuff her, she resisted. Used wrist/arm lock, she kept resisting. Used takedown (face into car hood) and she STILL resisted.
She then bit him, and he had every right at that point to strike her. At this point he’s wrestling with the suspect, and pepper spray is the next step. Use of a baton would have been unacceptable, since she was unarmed. Same goes for a firearm.
I side with the cop.
Let me ask the general public this… If the girl was to bite you, wouldn’t you be be in pain and want to stop it from happening again? Using Pepper Spray was temporary, which when you wash it out with water within a little bit it will be like nothing happened.
neoaikon is right, there was no baton used, no gun, pepper spray was the way to go!
