Working long hours… can COST your company..

Napping- Corporate America is KILLING people slowly through higher demand on longer hours and cutting back on everyone's sleep! In one of my recent positions, the company had a policy which aided in the increase of overall efficiency – 45 hours a week minimum – yep, the man get’s an extra 5 hours a week. Now, if that wasn’t enough, well, every week a spreadsheet was sent out company wide, yes, Company-Wide, with hundreds of employees, all RANKED according to the number of average hours per week they work.

Now, some were highly offended by this when there are warehouse workers clocking 55-60 hours every single week, tends to make some people, working their 45, look bad. Then there was me, working at home 10 hours a night – but that didn’t “count” – so 7AM meetings, 6PM departures were a usual schedule. But I fried. Badly – and I can see that it’s now an obvious trend in these days of corporate america attempting to squeeze all they can from everything – including their people.

Japan’s corporate warriors aren’t getting enough sleep — and it’s costing the country billions.

lala la la Buying CDs is again pain-free…

LALA lets you get CDs for $1.49 a trade! HOT STUFF!Napster made me not buy CDs. I’m saying it right now. You see, until the days of the download free for all days of yore, I bought CDs. Lots of em. In fact, at one time, I had well over 5,000 items in my collection. But that’s gone now too. Why?

It’s the digital age, I want to download, and no, I’m sorry Madonna – I don’t want to pay anymore. You are artists – and artists enjoy the pleasure of seeing the smiles on peoples faces, grown men dressed ‘Like a Virgin’ at concerts – what more can you ask for? If people started to put a real crimp in the music industry, I can see that it’s a problem – but guess what – it didn’t. Okay, so for 75 years after the death of the artist we have to pay for the luxury of hearing it on our schedule, on our time instead of as come-as-may on the radio.

Well, LA LA fixes all of that with the ability to swap CDs and do so for $1.49. Not so bad, and in fact based on the Wired writer’s testimony, he’s buying CDs again! Continue reading

Canadian PM Beheading Scheme Foiled… Beheading, yes…

25 year old Steven Chand was among 15 members of the alleged terrorist ring who appeared in a heavily guarded courtroom northwest of Toronto on Tuesday to set dates for bail hearingsI know that when you go to the higher elevation of the mountains, the air becomes thinner, and in fact with it “thin” enough, you can get a little silly from the lack of O2.

Well, seems that if go up North, as far as Canada anyway, the same kinda thing happens. First of all, they say things a bit different than you and I, however, in respect to my friend Mr. Melville, will tell you that Canadians are very good people. After all these years of Americanization tho, that “accent” is still clear as a bell when Canadian.

But these terrorists in Canada were complete loons! I mean, they were geoing to behead the Prime Minister? Behead?

“There’s an allegation apparently that my client personally indicated that he wanted to behead the prime minister of Canada,” Chand’s lawyer, Gary Batasar, told reporters. 25 year old Steven Chand was among 15 members of the alleged terrorist ring who appeared in a heavily guarded courtroom northwest of Toronto on Tuesday to set dates for bail hearings.
