Verizon is not the only Cellular Company in town, but they are one of the big four, looking to get bigger. Cingular’s acquisition of AT&T, bringing their subscriber count to around 50 million, took them to the top.
Vodaphone is the primary stockholder in Verizon. Vodaphone also owns 50% of Sprint. They also attempted to buy AT&T. They also own tons of other companies and properties. THEY are very hungry, fighting for the first to offer the new G3 services in the UK and Europe.
The story is interesting — AllTel is small enough to not make any ripples. But will it?
