Okay, the crazies have landed. You may have head about the ‘No Sagging Pants’ Ordinance that was passed, well, this fella says his doctor told him wearing a skirt would allow his ‘area’ to breathe and that sweat would evaporate. So, he rides around wearing a skirt and as one of his customer [...]
YouTubers Trip on RoboTussin - Cause Uproar
DXM - many may have never heard that term before, but it’s legal, it’s in your cough syrup - and kids have been getting high off of it for years. Only problem is, now they are putting their trippy experience popularized by Robotussin and thereby it’s nickname of “Robo”, on YouTube.
Hundreds of videos can be found which capture the experience of taking the cough syrup and other cold remedies then enjoying the ‘tripping’ experience it brings when overused. Before kids only told each other stories - if they told anyone. These days, the Internet makes things more enjoyable when you know you can share them with someone else - and you can share pretty much everything these days. Similar videos on YouTube of people using Salvia have sparked the issue nationwide and is now under consideration to be added to the list of scheduled drugs alongside cocaine and marijuana.
RipOff Report Claims Internet Terrorism
RipOffReport.com - a website many are familiar with as they have stumbled upon it when they are searching for a company online. Sometimes you never even get to that companies website - I mean, they seem to be ripping people off online!
But Wired reports that Ripoff Report founder Ed Magedson claims he is suffering from attacks by ‘Internet Terrorists’ who are pushing his highly ranked pages in search engines down a few notches. “SEOs, on the other hand, say Magedson is basically extorting money out of clients.”
Craigslist - Be Careful
Breitbart TV is one of my favorite hangouts these days - a regular way to get my day going. Have to admit - it’s everything I really had envisioned VideoExpose to be, but time just never allowed for that to happen. A woman, responding to a Craigslist for a Nanny led a woman to the home to ‘meet the couple,’ and was never seen again until her body was recovered from a nearby park.
Overstock.com Founder Fights Charges over Statement to ‘Burn High School Dropouts’
Patrick Byrne, founder of the online retailer Overstock.com, is in a heap of trouble over a recent online video which shows the Overstock leader decrying that High School drop-outs should be ‘burned,’ as it’s the end of their potential life. The NAACP has called for Byrne to apologize over his statement to which he has so far refused. Byrne has made similar remarks in other debates. He said Friday he had no intention of apologizing and claimed his comments were taken out of context. (Source: FoxNews)
Courthouse Security Requires Woman to Remove Bra
Feel like your are having your space invaded in the interest of security? One young woman isn’t all to happy about being asked to remove her under-wire bra at a Court House which seemed to continue to set off the metal detector. Faced with retreating to her car to change - she decided to have her husband use his coat as a cloak and took off the bra right there. Then, to her horror, she was forced to lay it on the conveyor belt and have it x-rayed.
ACLU Wins Battle against Patriot Act
Finally the wheels of Justice are moving forward. Today the Court found that the Patriot Act violated the Constitution and thereby changes are necessary in the processes necessary for corporate monitoring, the use of confidential letters demanding information, and the monitoring of electronic communications. The case was brought by the ACLU.
“Courts have a constitutionally mandated role to play when national security policies infringe on First Amendment rights,” said Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU’s National Security Project. “A statute that allows the FBI to silence people without meaningful judicial oversight is unconstitutional.”
Count your 1st Amendment blessings…
While Mr. Know-It-All (or mild mannered Brendan I. Koerner) would already be in shackles in a Chinese prison by describing the methods of circumventing the Chinese authorities who watch all Internet traffic in China, those in ‘free’ countries should take note of the freedom that being able to say, listen to, download, post online as we wish - talking about anything - is a blessing. Google Steps Up and Kills Drive-By Spyware Pimps
Google - Good Job! Spyware has long been a thorn in my side. Several years ago I was deeply involved in litigation regarding spyware and trying to stop it. We all know that spyware has evolved considerably over the last 10 years, but it continues to be a problem. Millions of computer users worldwide are currently having their PC used for things they aren’t even aware of - most often being used to send emails. Spam. My favorite! (Ugh!)
Google announced that they were removing paid links which although seeming to go to legitimate websites, many were redirecting to search results and other pages which would perform a ‘drive-by download,’ where the person is generally not aware an application is being installed on their computer. This can be done a myriad of ways, and they seem to try them all - but now Google is going to stop as much of it as they can.
The Sweet Smell of Piracy - now detectable by Dogs
Dogs are a great help in search and rescue as well as in the fight against drugs for the DEA and as well for explosives detection, but pirated movies? Unless there is a specific scent associated with being ripped off (would I go so far as to say that these are dogs seeking fecal aroma or methane pockets?) how can these dogs find pirated DVDs?
