While the homeless seem to draw little attention on a daily basis, seems that the Democratic National Convention is noticing their presence and the City of Denver is doing something unique - giving away means of entertainment during the DNC so the homeless will be less ‘visible.’
YouTubers Trip on RoboTussin - Cause Uproar
DXM - many may have never heard that term before, but it’s legal, it’s in your cough syrup - and kids have been getting high off of it for years. Only problem is, now they are putting their trippy experience popularized by Robotussin and thereby it’s nickname of “Robo”, on YouTube.
Hundreds of videos can be found which capture the experience of taking the cough syrup and other cold remedies then enjoying the ‘tripping’ experience it brings when overused. Before kids only told each other stories - if they told anyone. These days, the Internet makes things more enjoyable when you know you can share them with someone else - and you can share pretty much everything these days. Similar videos on YouTube of people using Salvia have sparked the issue nationwide and is now under consideration to be added to the list of scheduled drugs alongside cocaine and marijuana.
Help a Dying Girl Get her Wish
What is a 10 year old girl facing imminent death to do when she’s told ‘No, you cannot see your father.’ Once a vibrant and energetic child, her body is now ravished with hemmoraging cancerous tumors - lying ‘comfortable’ awaiting death to take her away. But she only wants to get a hug from her father.
Incarcerated in a minimum security federal prison camp in Yankton, South Dakota on a one year sentence, the father is scheduled to be transferred to a half-way house in August. After requesting a 30 day supervised visit to provide him closure with his daughter - and provide her dying wish, they were flatly denied. An appeal is being made in the case, and it is yet unsure how this will turn out. (Video after break)
French Cancer Victim Sparks Reconsideration of Assisted Suicide
A French woman went as far as to petition the Courts to provide her with a lethal dose of drugs to end her suffering - and was denied. Once a vibrant woman, cancer infected her sinuses and nasal cavities - completely disfiguring the woman and even forcing one of her eyes out of the socket.
The womans condition only worsened once the cancer ate through much of her facial bone structure and had no sense of smell or taste - and was blind. After the Courts ruled to deny her plea, she was found dead in her apartment the next day.
Miami Blog Reflects Shady Side of Biscayne
While the City seems to believe more well-spoken individuals are thrilled with the Biscayne Omni area when ready for a night out on the town, think again - the issue of prostitution, vagrancy, panhandling in the streets to and from the highway on-ramps - and yet near the Knight Center several downtown agents in brand-new shirts sporting the DWTN logo stand about talking to each other.
A Miami-based blog called ‘DailyCocaine,’ (and food is the new cocaine - and the focus of the blog itself) decided to provide a review of some of the better locations (mockingly) for the ingestion of cocaine… included, by no surprise, is the Burger King on Biscayne and NE 16th Street. While I have detailed the issues of this area in past blog entries, his really takes the cake…
FEMA Fakes the Funk - Says ‘Sorry’
While FEMA is trying to be responsive to the Nation’s needs, especially the California forest-fire victims, it seems that instead of planning a conference properly, with ample notice for the press corps to get into place - instead, FEMA announced a press conference 15 minutes in advance - then held it without any real media in attendance, and instead had FEMA employees posing as reporting asking the questions.
Pretty lame? Seem not possible? Well, not only is it possible, it’s completely true - and at least they are admitting it was all a charade. FEMA, as the primary agency of Homeland Security, isn’t happy either.
A spokeswoman for Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who has authority over FEMA, called the incident “inexcusable and offensive to the secretary.” [Source: Reuters Alertnet]
Net Neutrality with an Expiration Date
AT&T’s merger with BellSouth seems to have hit a little bit of a snafu - over ‘Net Neutrality.’ With some of the FCC members requesting a ‘four year’ requirement for open access without charging website operators fees. It seems, however, that some are considering to approve a two and a half year free ride as conditions of approving the merger.
Net Neutrality is nothing to pass over or even laugh off - it’s serious business - that can affect your enjoyment of the Internet now - and in the future. Say ‘YES’ to Net Neutrality and let your provider and Representatives know. We pay for access to the net - and the net has no ruler.

Sushi - Nude Models Draw Women - or Men?
Nude models always create a draw when on public display or in tandem with some meaningful marketing event held at a major retailer or on the behalf of a brand like Victoria’s Secret. Sushi Das, writer for The Age, declared that the entire event was pretty much male dominated and was a great example of the male ‘ape-like’ behavior still present in today’s society deeply rooted in our DNA.
While the article even lures this ‘Ape like’ mentality in it’s headline declaring “Male monkey business as models turn other cheek” and going on to say “HAD there been tall trees nearby, they probably would have climbed them.” (emphasis added)
Okay, so upon closer inspection of the photograph provided in the article, I was astounded to see six visible people in the photograph from the event - four of which are women! Yes, women! (Source: The Age)
ACLU Wins Battle against Patriot Act
Finally the wheels of Justice are moving forward. Today the Court found that the Patriot Act violated the Constitution and thereby changes are necessary in the processes necessary for corporate monitoring, the use of confidential letters demanding information, and the monitoring of electronic communications. The case was brought by the ACLU.
“Courts have a constitutionally mandated role to play when national security policies infringe on First Amendment rights,” said Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU’s National Security Project. “A statute that allows the FBI to silence people without meaningful judicial oversight is unconstitutional.”
YouTuber Election: 2008 - By Any Means Necessary
When you least expect it, YouTubers are pitching in to the 2008 Presidential elections - in droves. During a top video review today, a video entitled ‘Ron Paul Needs to Wake Up - Stop Dreaming! Ron Paul Exposed!’ was listed. With all the current political scene awash in ‘exposures’ of the candidates, and with Ron Paul’s message being censored by some media groups, I decided to see how they debunked his statements.
Then I realized that the YouTubers behind the Ron Paul movement had created a title to lure those who think Ron Paul is full of crap. Reverse psychology in the title - creative marketing for today’s generation. We all love a scandal - and a scandal video is even better! Good work creative minds!
