Variance between US and China: Eating Penis
While in Beijing to cover the 2008 Olympics, Kevin Pang of the Chicago Tribune and Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times visited a restaurant that serves only penis. You have to admit that eating penis to bridge the cultural divide may seem a bit extreme, but according to these reporters, eating penis is the only thing different than US and Chinese citizens. Interesting.
Chinese Attacks Being at Olympics: 1 American Dead
While the Chinese officials have taken every step to present the Olympics as drama-free as possible, CNN reports today a Chinese attacker stabbed to death the father-in-law of a U.S. Olympic coach and seriously wounded the American’s wife and a Chinese tour guide before killing himself, the International Olympic Committee said Saturday.

The Environment - Poorly Treated - We Cannot Live
The Environment. It’s critical in our ability to - simply put - live.
What can be more simple to understand? If we continue to poorly treat the environment around us - the one which sustains and satiates our every need - it will no longer be able to do anything for us. Won’t be able to protect us from the harmful rays of the sun. Won’t be able to keep the polar caps frozen.
Sushi - Nude Models Draw Women - or Men?
Nude models always create a draw when on public display or in tandem with some meaningful marketing event held at a major retailer or on the behalf of a brand like Victoria’s Secret. Sushi Das, writer for The Age, declared that the entire event was pretty much male dominated and was a great example of the male ‘ape-like’ behavior still present in today’s society deeply rooted in our DNA.
While the article even lures this ‘Ape like’ mentality in it’s headline declaring “Male monkey business as models turn other cheek” and going on to say “HAD there been tall trees nearby, they probably would have climbed them.” (emphasis added)
Okay, so upon closer inspection of the photograph provided in the article, I was astounded to see six visible people in the photograph from the event - four of which are women! Yes, women! (Source: The Age)
Nepal’s Sacrificial Offerings Get Plane Off the Ground
Most people have at least heard the name “Kathmandu” at some point in their life, however most people don’t even know where it is. Even fewer may be aware that animal sacrifices are still a part of their culture. This may only be coming clear with the advent of the internet. Today’s blogosphere is alive with the story of two goats being sacrificed by the state-run airline of Nepal to appease the Hindu sky god, Akash Bhairab.
Now that the Boeing 757 (1 of 2 the country operates) is back-in-the-air, it makes things a little different. We are all comfortable and content in our world - our world currently ripped apart by war, in-fighting and hate. Our country, the one we love and believe in the words our founding fathers wrote - is slowly being drained of all it’s assets by the current Administration for now and long into the future. We have military installations across the world - and we aren’t under threat, we think we are in charge!
Count your 1st Amendment blessings…
While Mr. Know-It-All (or mild mannered Brendan I. Koerner) would already be in shackles in a Chinese prison by describing the methods of circumventing the Chinese authorities who watch all Internet traffic in China, those in ‘free’ countries should take note of the freedom that being able to say, listen to, download, post online as we wish - talking about anything - is a blessing. 107 year old Man Forgoes Sex for Long Life?
107 and hasn’t had sex since World War II? Seems like a tough life, or maybe it’s the though that one day he may get some nookie that keeps this Hong Kong native alive. According to the report,
“Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have lived a sex-less life for many years — since I was 30,” said Chan, a widower whose youthful bride perished during the Japanese invasion in World War Two.”
Not sure if this will be a new trend to extend lives - todays popular culture may have a bit of a problem with it.
Executive War
Today’s Mercury News details the Congressional plan to remove the Authority for War from the President, however they are considering that may not do much good.
“Congressional action sends a strong message,” Feinstein said Friday. “And to continue a war without the support of Congress is a very risky thing because it becomes totally an executive-branch [...]
