Robin Cook is truly my favorite author. Tooling around Hulu today, I stumbed on a “webisode” of a new Robin Cook title - ‘Foreign Body.’ According to the series website, this series is a prologue to his soon-to-be released summer blockbuster, Foreign Body.

Games with a Purpose - GWAP.com
People love to play casual games online - I know that my friend and I often play pool on MySpace across the room from each other. It’s something to do - and fun too. Sure, you score points, but that isn’t really important - it’s just playing.
A new Web 2.0 site has come onto the scene, and they are utilizing casual gaming for more - they give it a purpose.
Tech Blamed for Less Reading
Leave it to people who sit around noticing the circulation at the library is down and that there are many less people utilizing the printed matter these days to blame it on technology. Why, we should loathe the day Guttenberg developed his press - those old wood-cut manuscripts had much more passion and character. [...]
Guardian Journalist Annouces Death of Print News
Newspapers are dying - a slow and painful death right before our eyes. While some newspapers still require payment for their content, most have made not only their current content, but as far back as 20 years or more, like the New York Times. In today’s Guardian a reporter has finally decided to step forward and admit the truth that most journalists do not wish to hear, “The death knoll is ringing for print newspapers.”
It’s clear that as the generational swing continues to forge ahead with time (read: as older people pass away and the more technologically inclined generations become the masses), electronic means of content distribution is preferred. Let me read it when and how and where I want - for free.
Google Apps… Joining in the Foray..
My turn to talk about Google Apps - it’s the news of the week and no one can stop talking about it. To me, I have Google Apps, but I just can’t get used to their spreadsheets, I need the power of Excel - I’ve migrated in my life through PerfectCalc on a Kaypro II, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro, Excel and now Excel 2007, which I see as a completely new application that allows you to truly flex all the muscle and power that Excel has to offer.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the days of physical software distribution are numbered - there just isn’t reason for it - and move to flash drives for lords sake. For all the money we spend, a few extra bucks for the distribution medium shouldn’t hurt anyone, especially Microsoft, at all. The only reason someone should have to buy physical software would be in a recovery effort, being able to boot from a USB flash drive and recover, or remove system ailments, etc.
Shopping under the Influence: Sip and Click
Shopping while drunk can lead to high credit card bills - but is obviously better than getting into an accident. Just beware, recurring charges are the ones to avoid.
Reuters introduces great new Font Size Control
Reuters has been making strong gains in their web presence, introducing their new beta business section this week, and today I noticed their integration of a great text size control as seen in image herein.
Your ‘Digital Dirt’ can Hurt You
While most of us use the internet for valid purposes and aren’t off trying to lure children, or purchase slaves, or trade in illegal imagery. But there are so many sites that we have signed up to over the years, it’s nearly impossible for anyone to remember them. Just recently, a business associate found a bizzare profile that was a hodge-podge of information they had seemingly cobbled together from different period of time - and I have no idea what the login or anything is.
MTV Networks Buys Gaming and Video Sites
MTV Networks will gain Atom Entertainment’s four major units: gaming sites Shockwave.com and AddictingGames.com, and short-form video sites AtomFilms.com and AddictingClips.com. Combined, the sites drew about 9.3 million unique visitors last month, according to comScore Networks.
AOL User Search Data Disturbing in Many Ways
Today AOL, by accident, leaked millions of search records spanning a 90 day period this year. The insight to be gained from this data is pretty incredible. Aggregately looking at anyone individual user’s search history can provide identification of potential felons, individuals planning crimes or heinous acts, or even escape from the jurisdiction where a crime has been committed. Furthermore, signs of individuals suffering from spousal abuse is very scary. When you review some of this data, you will be able to make your own decisions.
