New Billboards Target Users with Cameras

Men and women respond to ads differently.  If it’s possible for a marketer to know who is going to view the ad, then it’s best approach would be to show the ad which will be best received by the viewer.  … Continue reading

RipOff Report Claims Internet Terrorism

RipOffReport.comRipOffReport.com – a website many are familiar with as they have stumbled upon it when they are searching for a company online. Sometimes you never even get to that companies website – I mean, they seem to be ripping people off online!

Apple O/S Delay: Legit or just a PR Event?

Apple announced today that they won’t be shipping their latest operating system, Mac OS X Leopard, until October. Leveraging the O/S team for iPhone tweaks is getting the blame for the delay. Aside from the daunting task of ensuring ‘everything works,’ is it possible, even just for a second, that this O/S delay, like most operating system release dates, is only a reason to get more press?

Apple’s released statement regarding the delay was rife with information and sexy language about the iPhone, perhaps only attempting to get it more deeply embedded in everyone’s minds – while providing them a little ‘breathing room’ to get the release and phone done on time. Continue reading

Blind Impressions – Are you Paying?

After many years of leaving webpages up on my monitors while I do other things, I realized that literally billions of impressions of ads are made to people who aren’t there. My Yahoo was my homepage for years – over 10, always providing me all of the news I wanted to see when I opened an IE window. It was always updated, no matter when I looked at it — and hearing the ‘click’ of a page loading was always going on in my absence from the computer.

So, blind impressions – impressions of an ad to an absence audience, away from their computer and having their add triggered by an auto-refresh definition in the page itself – are making the CPM advertisers of the world billions. BILLIONS.

This would not include CPC ads, as no user is there to interact with the refreshing pages, keeping that part of the industry honest – but after being in the online ad industry for an extended period, noting that the largest of portals often suffer from the worst response rates, it’s no wonder – nobody’s home! Snickers bends to retarded and unbased complaints

Okay, that was a completely non-PC headline, but after watching CNN Headline News this morning, and the decision of MasterFoods International to pull the current Snickers campaign wrapped around the SuperBowl this past weekend (and shown here) – is simply allowing the blowhards of this country to get their way – and they need to just STFU.

As a gay man, there is NOTHING wrong with the Snickers ad campaign. Sure, I could already anticipate there would be an outcry from the babies over at the Human Rights coalition or other pansy-crying organizations. The ad features two obviously straight men straight out of the south or middle America and they nearly ‘kiss’ in a complete hilarious recreation of the Disney ‘spaghetti’ moment.

Grow the fuck up! If you can’t take a joke – you aren’t living life. This is anything but gay bashing, this is playing on the sensitivities of every straight man in the world – and guess what – IT’s FUNNY! Continue reading

If it looks like a turkey….

Yes, the Tofurky holiday roast. Now admittedly, this item may not look too good, but once the fixins’ are added to the plate, it looks a lot more tasty.

People are buying the Tofurkey, too. The company that makes it California’s Turtle Island Foods is holding a contest this year where people are invited to guess how many tofurkeys are sold by the end of this year. The Web site says they have sold over 882,000 as of the beginning of this year and have been selling them since 1995.

What do you win if you guess right? An electric scooter.

By the way, the Web site for the Tofurkey also includes a recipe for giblet gravy. Considering how gross that bag of guts stuffed inside real turkeys usually looks, we think the Tofurkey substitute version can only be an improvement. Continue reading
