I remember my first cell phone. Ever. It was a GSM OmniPoint pre-paid Siemens phone. They had some very sexy ones back then, ones I wish I had today! A recent Geek .com (PDA Geek) story talks about the end of the Siemens handset legacy.

But why?

I think Siemens has always done a great job of making sure that people were able to have affordable, Euro-stylish, sleek handsets. One of my first actually had you insert the ENTIRE credit-card holder of the SIM. It’s was fancy!

Well, let’s hope Siemens doesn’t throw in the towel. >
They have a very lucrative DECT handset business, and the SK65 (The “cross” phone) Unlocked GSM Phone (available at TigerDirect) is very cool and one of a kind.

It’s a sleek candy-bar style phone, however the entire thing swivels in half, revealing a keyboard on either side of the phone so you can message away. Now, get this - they have BLACKBERRY SERVICE built in!

Let’s give Siemens a chance. They have been in the game too long.
