Tonight the first episode of ‘Talk Show with Steve FergesonSpike Ferensten’ aired on FOX. This new Saturday night at Midnight talk show seems to take the best of Jon Stewart’s Daily Show and Stephen Colbert’s Colbert Report sets, and tried to used the blue lights for a major dramatic effect. Why? Well, they don’t have much more - lack of budget according to Spike.

The lead with a skit specifically targeted to the “stoner” demographic watching in the time slot. The “Electric Lincoln” dances in a “Laugh-In” modeled graphic background with a glitter pot leaf overlay.

To supplement their quirky ‘Idiot Paparazzi’ skit, they ‘hired a local newsreporter’ to report on West Hollywood. The ensuing skit ends in ‘No matter where to you go in West Hollywood, they are cramming semen down your throat.” Nice.

We come back from the break…

The skit returns with the host in the guest chair and Andy Richter takes the host role. He then panics and freezes up. The show really isn’t something that’s getting me going. Andy Richter then does “Unfair Target,” a skit where he has to humiliate himself and after saying his appearance alone could nearly guarantee the shows cancellation. The host says, well.. Andy says, “c’mon, I’m like a feather on a landslide.”

Idiot Paparazzi ensues, then taking pictures of Richter as “Louie Anderson” in the parking lot. More commercials.

Okay, so can you tell i’m getting bored of this?

The last segment was a review of a new album downloaded from iTunes with BB King Sings about his Other Ailments. Ending with ‘My Balls Itch,’ another stupid skit.

The New TALK SHOW with Steve Fergeson Spike Ferensten on Fox, is a bore. Bet it won’t be back.
