My turn to talk about Google Apps - it’s the news of the week and no one can stop talking about it. To me, I have Google Apps, but I just can’t get used to their spreadsheets, I need the power of Excel - I’ve migrated in my life through PerfectCalc on a Kaypro II, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro, Excel and now Excel 2007, which I see as a completely new application that allows you to truly flex all the muscle and power that Excel has to offer.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the days of physical software distribution are numbered - there just isn’t reason for it - and move to flash drives for lords sake. For all the money we spend, a few extra bucks for the distribution medium shouldn’t hurt anyone, especially Microsoft, at all. The only reason someone should have to buy physical software would be in a recovery effort, being able to boot from a USB flash drive and recover, or remove system ailments, etc.

Breakdancing, as many of you are aware, is not one of my hobbies - however this video features breakdancing - or better yet is a tutorial to the basic steps. That’s the purpose of this post, sharing.

Since the advent of YouTube, people have finally been able to spread their knowledge to a nearly limitless audience instead of the boys and girls from the neighborhood. This guy has taken the time to really explain the basic steps of breakdancing, and it’s pretty cool.

107 and hasn’t had sex since World War II? Seems like a tough life, or maybe it’s the though that one day he may get some nookie that keeps this Hong Kong native alive. According to the report,

“Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have lived a sex-less life for many years — since I was 30,” said Chan, a widower whose youthful bride perished during the Japanese invasion in World War Two.”

Not sure if this will be a new trend to extend lives - todays popular culture may have a bit of a problem with it.

The Anna-Nicole Smith story has just got the best set of fuel tanks on it money can’t buy — today, the hearing was held to determine where the departed Playmate would be buried. According to the New York Times,

“Breaking down in tears, the judge, Larry Seidlin of Broward County Circuit Court, said … Ms. Smith should be buried … where Ms. Smith had lived for the last few months of her life.”

Custody of the body was given to Danielynn’s court appointed attorney and temporary guardian who will coordinate the arrangements and funeral for Anna-Nicole.

After many years of leaving webpages up on my monitors while I do other things, I realized that literally billions of impressions of ads are made to people who aren’t there. My Yahoo was my homepage for years - over 10, always providing me all of the news I wanted to see when I opened an IE window. It was always updated, no matter when I looked at it — and hearing the ‘click’ of a page loading was always going on in my absence from the computer.

So, blind impressions - impressions of an ad to an absence audience, away from their computer and having their add triggered by an auto-refresh definition in the page itself - are making the CPM advertisers of the world billions. BILLIONS.

This would not include CPC ads, as no user is there to interact with the refreshing pages, keeping that part of the industry honest - but after being in the online ad industry for an extended period, noting that the largest of portals often suffer from the worst response rates, it’s no wonder - nobody’s home!

In one of the most well-known drugs with a side effect that recalls some potato chips and other products with ‘alternative fat’ in them, anal-leakage and Xenical (or ‘orlistat’) go hand-in-hand. Today, the annoucment rang out that finally an over-the-counter drug had been approved by the FDA for weight loss.

Now, since the FDA requires clinical studies in order for any product to make claims to assist in the cure or treatment of any condition, this is kinda earth shattering, however, then they said it was a reduced dosage of Xenical - OTC Orlistat. Better yet, they said they named it Alli, in order to show the spirit of joint effort in weight loss. ? Huh ? Alli doesn’t say anything to me other than lets go ride on a flying carpet!
