It’s not usual for me to drool all over any new piece of hardware - it takes a lot, and today - well, I found one of those things when I decided to try out the Logitech Wireless DJ Music System. Let me tell you - there is nothing for me to complain about with it. First of all, let me explain what exactly this thing is. It’s a way for you to have multiple music receivers in your home utilizing a single PC as the primary music source. Up to four receivers can be used one location. The receiver doubles as a charging station for the uber-cool remote control.

It’s truly a piece of art and has a great screen and a control very similar to that of the click-wheel, with a single button in the center. This remote allows you to completely choose and play whatever you like, whether it be music from the primary library, Internet Radio, podcasts or even more! The receiver has two audio outputs, one for standard RCA connections and another with a mini phono plug, standard use for audio systems like those also from Logitech.

Setting up the system was a lot simpler than I anticipated it being, and I didn’t think it’d be so cool either - but none the less, I installed the software, plugged in the USB transmitter (which uses the 2.4GHz range and could suffer from interference with your WiFi, but in my setup with a new 802.11n router less than four feet away, I didn’t even know the wireless was there.) and then I was prompted through plugging in the receiver - my music libraries were added and indexed by the application and I was ready to go.

After launching the application, it found there was an update available. (This is about to get pretty cool.) After downloading and starting the installation, not only did it shut down the PC application, it also powered down the remote control during the upgrade. VERY cool.

Logitech was really thinking about the features necessary to get this job done - better than anyone else has done it before. Watch TigerTV for an upcoming video review of this product as well as the sexiest keyboard (also from Logitech) that you have ever seen. It’s another amazing device!

Until next time, LP.
