For many years, over 10, I have used the same keyboard - the Microsoft Natural Elite Keyboard. Yep, corded and all. Why? It’s the only keyboard I can type on that allows me to type at my speed, at my pace and without having any problems. Plus, it should help me from having any type of wrist disorder, right?

Well, those keyboards are now laying in a closet. I have found a new keyboard (oh, and I’ve tried MANY) that allows me to have everything that I want in a keyboard - although it has taken a few days to adjust to. You see, many products come into my hands to review, evaluate and decipher. Many of them don’t even interest me and simply go away. This was not one of those products.

I was told my a friend that it was a great keyboard, but took some adjusting to. They were right, but they didn’t realize that now I could have a ‘normal keyboard’ that still offered me the full range of ergonomic advantages as well as the ability to type as fast as I want without any problem or hinderance - YET allowing me to fully feel the keyboard itself. It’s all about tactile response.

Let me tell you a little about the Logitech Wave keyboard - it’s amazing. Simply just that, I type fast - like over 100 words a minute, and on this keyboard I can definitely reach top speeds and with less errors to correct. There is a little bit of weirdness having my hands a little closer together than I did with a natural keyboard, but it’s worth getting used to. The keyboard layout is great - no six little buttons in the center between the letters and keypad, but the big ‘ol delete button, which is my personal friend.

Also, the arrow keys are not all perfectly the same size, allowing you a wider up and down key and the placement again, is great.

For those using Windows Vista, there is a great feature on the far left of the keyboard which allows you to rotate through your applications in the fancy interface - in XP it brings up a list of all active applications which you can click through and access with a simple click. Great no matter what OS you are using - it would be interesting to see what it does in Ubuntu.

The media keys across the top are great as well - providing larger keys for the primary functions, which are all redefinable.

As a bonus feature, the included mouse in the wireless set is great, it includes buttons on both sides of the mouse like my favorite the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, and this mouse is a great replacement.

Not sure yet about the battery life, but I’ll update later.
