“Enhanced Collaboration” – one of the major features of the new MS Office 12.
Wow! That sounds great! Sounds exactly like Bill Gates demo’d it in 1999 at Comdex. Office now allows you to share documents. Look, updated here, and it’s updated there (on the other person’s screen!).
That was six years ago guys! Oh, you finally made it work? Great!
Although most of us may already use MS Office by default, is it by choice? No, choice would be using WordPerfect or something else (anyone remember Ami Pro?) Stop the madness, Open Office provides many similar functionality and costs much , much, much less.
As to the specific new features that were discussed,
- Excel can create dashboards and scorecards that offer a way to keep track of how business is doing
- Powerpoint will automate more of the graphics features from within PP itself.
- MS is expanding it’s use of XML to share data with other programs
- Other than sharing. not much else to tell
So, get your $500 ready for, another non-eventful release of MS Office.
Oh yeah, it will work with Longhorn and was actually scheduled to release at the same time. Gotta get money in the coffers before 2008!
Sorry for not writing for so long, but I’ve been BUSY!
