There was plenty of speculation that the Earth would be visited by an alien craft (UFO) on July 4th this year, but I haven’t seen any “major” news report as of yet.  I did, however, dig into the MUFON database for reports of July 4th sightings and events, and found there are a ton of reports from the 4th which all have a common theme – glowing orange spheres (orbs) – all over the US!
