PS/3 Issues: Just Turn it Off
PS/3s are to be “left off” according to Sony – as a solution to their current problem of well, allowing anyone to connect to the Playstation network. Even people who attempt to play stand-alone games are told to piss off – for some unknown reason, it’s not possible, even though it’s a stand alone game.
You see, the world is now very highly interconnected. Just think of how many disruptions and delays are caused just by not having a cell connection on your phone. If you are using a real-time 3G based Navigation system, it peters out pretty quickly – your email, dead in the water – twitter updates, please – and you can’t even check in on FourSquare along the Everglades while crossing alligator alley (yes, this actually happened to me yesterday). People love to play casual games online – I know that my friend and I often play pool on MySpace across the room from each other. It’s something to do – and fun too. Sure, you score points, but that isn’t really important – it’s just playing.
