Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is a success. Success if you are looking for a younger demographic, a more hip, Internet savvy audience – and that is the group that is taking hold in this country. While many may still wish to cater to various older demographics which are becoming a larger percentage of the population, there are a ton of these Gen Xers, savvy as can be – and want entertained.

With Lorne Michaels as the producer of the show, you can be assured that there are many SNL similarities. There are sketches, segments and they seem to be trying out a number of things in the first few days. Having great guests doesn’t hurt at all – his debut show included Robert DeNiro, Van Morrison and his second episode didn’t fail either – with Tina Fey and Jon BonJovi.

It’s amazing to realize that this was the Letterman show – before he bailed and went to CBS. As Letterman continues and age – and provides a strong source of competition for any of the late night shows – it’s great to see the “new” generation taking hold of the airwaves.

Jimmy Fallon still looks 22 – and an opening monologue may not be his strong point – but who cares – let’s get to the fun. Having a different musical guest each night doesn’t appeal to me – while interesting – I don’t think it’s necessary, but it’s cool.
