Stupid People Do Stupid Things to be on Television

Who_Wants_to_be_on_a_reality_ShowWant to be on a reality show? It’s amazing what people will do in order to be on a show.  The perfect example is the latest show from Crackle Originals (Sony Television for the web) called “Who Wants to be on a Reality Show?“  Now available on Hulu (or through the player below.)  This show is absolutely ridiculous.

As I see it, these people are dying to be on TV.  Let’s take the girl on “Just Suck It!” — wait until you see her work over an unexpected piece of hardware for an extended period of time, or the swollen face self-imposed by the raging Opie in “The Pain Game,” least of not, the on-going dumb blonde jokes, endlessly laughing producer — and just realizing that these people are going through.

While I hate this new, uber-short six minute webisode length, if you add them all to your queue on Hulu, pop them out onto a window for your TV — they’ll autoplay from your queue.  And if that isn’t enough, try Hulu desktop and get that Media Center Remote out of the closet and put it to use.  You may really enjoy it!

John Schneider (Bo Duke) showing up all over TV

Gone from the public eye for quite some time (well, at least that I’ve twentysixmilesseen), our 80′s favorite character Bo Duke (of “The Dukes of Hazzard” for those of you not old enough to remember),  John Schneider is now the lead character of the TV series Twentysixmiles on the USA Network.  He’s a dad who decides to cast aside the world of corporate acquisitions and mergers for being in a band and living on Catalina Island, where he wife moved to escape him with his children.

It’s a pretty good show, and you can watch twentysixmiles on Hulu as well.  Tonight, however I was watching the latest episode of Leverage and suddenly it was if Jack Kincaid (the Twentysixmiles character) was in the show.  Yep, TNT has him making a guest star appearance on Leverage, and it just confused the heck outta me.

leverage There have been several times in the past when shows had characters “visit” from another show, and they were always cool when they cross-interacted like that.  I mean without Happy Days, there wouldn’t have been a Laverne & Shirley.  Alice and Flo, All in the Family and Maude, as well as The Jeffersons — the list goes on and on.

This appearance confused me.  Maybe I watch too much TV, but really John, do you need to work that much?  Check out a preview of this weeks episode of Leverage after the break, or check it out on TNT.tv.  I also threw in the 1st episode for kicks.  Enjoy!

Persons Unknown – Great new show!

Persons Unknown is a new TV show I stumbled across on Hulu just over a month ago, Persons_Unknownand each week cannot wait until the next for the continued story.

Here’s the show in a nutshell:  A bunch of people are kidnapped from a variety of places, including mental hospitals, from parks, homes, nightclubs and even death row, and wake up in a hotel.  Everyone is locked in their rooms and eventually they all get out — and wonder why each of them is there.  Or when they can leave.

Set in a town full of stores and other buildings, it’s surrounded by an invisible force which keeps them inside.  Sometimes there will be visits and others leave without a problem, yet the kidnapped can’t seem to find their way out.  They make several attempts, all foiled by one thing or another.  There is definitely a lot of mind games going on behind the scenes, and someone is always watching, seemingly from the multitude  of cameras throughout the town.

Archer – Comedy for the Modern Day Man

Like your entertainment a touch of super hero, intrigue, family drama and a bit of campiness to bring it all together? Archer, a new animated series on FX, is my latest find on Hulu – and it’s freaking awesome. The witty production will keep you laughing non-stop, and I’m not one for animated anything to watch, even though Hulu is filling up with them.

This show simply rocks – and the main character’s off-handed comments he mumbles to himself are ridiculous. In the scene where he walks in on his mother pleasuring herself under the desk while on the phone, when she raises her hand to her face she exclaims her son smells like a Russian Whore House, to which he replies… no spoilers here, sorry folks…

Enjoy Archer, the all-new funny series from FX, courtesy of Hulu:

Jimmy Fallon does good with Late Night

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is a success. Success if you are looking for a younger demographic, a more hip, Internet savvy audience – and that is the group that is taking hold in this country. While many may still wish to cater to various older demographics which are becoming a larger percentage of the population, there are a ton of these Gen Xers, savvy as can be – and want entertained.

With Lorne Michaels as the producer of the show, you can be assured that there are many SNL similarities. There are sketches, segments and they seem to be trying out a number of things in the first few days. Having great guests doesn’t hurt at all – his debut show included Robert DeNiro, Van Morrison and his second episode didn’t fail either – with Tina Fey and Jon BonJovi.

It’s amazing to realize that this was the Letterman show – before he bailed and went to CBS. As Letterman continues and age – and provides a strong source of competition for any of the late night shows – it’s great to see the “new” generation taking hold of the airwaves.

Jimmy Fallon still looks 22 – and an opening monologue may not be his strong point – but who cares – let’s get to the fun. Having a different musical guest each night doesn’t appeal to me – while interesting – I don’t think it’s necessary, but it’s cool.

Jimmy -keep it up! Watch Jimmy on Hulu.
