Computer and electronics sites prove popular in December
Visits to seven of the 10 top computer and consumer electronics sites increased by double digits in December, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. TigerDirect.com experienced the largest increases, with visits jumping 50% to 4.2 million from 2.8 million a year earlier.
CircuitCity.com had the second largest increase, with visits rising 49% to 15.2 million from 10.2 million; followed by eBay Electronics, up 43% to 12.6 million from 8.8 million; OSTG, up 42% to 4.7 million from 3.3 million; Radio Shack, up 31% to 4.2 million from 3.2 million; eBay Computers, up 18% to 6.5 million from 5.5 million; BestBuy.com, up 12% to 19.4 million from 17.3 million; Sony Electronics, up 8% to 5.3 million from 4.9 million; CompUSA.com, up 8% to 3.9 million from 3.6 million; and Sony, up 3% to 3.9 million from 3.8 million.
BestBuy.com recorded the most visits in December, followed by CircuitCity.com, eBay Electronics; eBay Computers; Sony Electronics; OSTG, Radio Shack, Tiger Direct.com, Sony, and CompUSA.com.
In the top 10 computer and consumer electronics sites ranked by timer per visit, eBay Electronics led with 18 minutes, 27 seconds; followed by CDW, 17 minutes, 35 seconds; eBay Computers, 13 minutes, 42 seconds; CircuitCity.com, 13 minutes, 35 seconds; TigerDirect.com, 12 minutes, 46 seconds; BestBuy.com, 11 minutes, 53 seconds; Geeks.com, 11 minutes, 24 seconds; Simple Star, 11 minutes, 6 seconds; outpost.com, 11 minutes, 2 seconds; and CompUSA.com, 10 minutes, 41 seconds.
Also in December, NetFlix Inc. had the most online ad impressions in the retail goods and service industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading retailers and their number of impressions are (in millions):
